Venezuela occupies most of the northern coast of South America on the Caribbean Sea. It is as much a Caribbean country as it is a South American one. Parts of its shoreline could easily be mistaken for that of some Caribbean island. At night the discos in Caracas come alive with rhythms from all over the Caribbean.
Caracas is the capital city of Venezuela. It is located in the north of the country. The valley's temperatures are springlikeas it is close to the Caribbean Sea. It is separated from the coast by a steep mountain range (Cerro Ávila). This rises dramatically above while to the south lies further hills and mountains.
Puerto La Cruz is one of Venezuela's top tourist destination. The beaches that surround, such as Isla de Plata, Conoma and Arapito are beautiful. Puerto La Cruz is also the entry point of Mochima National Park. This is one of the most spectacular in the country. From its port, you can take a ferry to Margarita Island.
Merida is an Andean paradise with its snow covered Pico de Bolívar being the highest peak in Venezuela. There is a small tropical beach which is located on the southeast side of Maracaibo Lake. Merida is also home to four national parks. It has no less than 12 state parks, three natural monuments, and 172 glacier lagoons.
Puerto Ordaz greatest attractions are the Cachamay park and the Drizzle La Llovizna. Here can be found exotic and imposing cascades. Llovizna falls, on the River Caroni, are located in the Llovizna Park.
Teleferico is not a place but the local way of saying cable car. This is the best way to see some stunning Venezuelan country such as Caracas and all the way to the beach. On a hot day, take the teleferico to get to the Avila Magica. The weather can be cooler when you are up there and you may also get some rain so appropriate clothing is a good idea.
The Sierra Nevada is the largest among the four regional national parks, with a beautiful natural protected environment. The Sierra Nevada is home to almost fifty lagoons and waterfalls. The Ruta del Paramo runs along the western side of the Sierra Nevada, which also has numerous attractions that might interest you.
Teatro Municipal history dates back to years gone by. A time when internationally acclaimed performers visited Caracas on their tour. Also a time when an aristocracy still existed in the capital.
