Sousse is the third-largest city in the country
located 140 km south of Tunis.
Since the times of Carthage it is been an
important center.
It boasts a large Medina, Great Mosque, and
Ribat.
It is in the central-east of the country, on
the Gulf of Hammamet, which is a part of the Mediterranean Sea.
Sousse was occupied successively by the Norman
of Sicily, the Spanish, the French and the Venetian, it was very
damaged by the bombardments during the campaign of Tunisia.
Today it is home to the University of Sousse
