Morning departure to Bang Pa In, the King's beautiful summer
palace.
Onward to Ayutthaya.
Visit the most important ruins and the remaining historical
attractions.
In the afternoon departure by cruise boat back to Bangkok.
Buffet lunch & dessert on board.
Throughout the trip expert guides explain the history and legends
of the respective sights.
About Ayuthaya. From the 14th to
18th centuries, Ayuthaya served as the capital of the central
kingdom of Thailand and as its cultural centre. With influences
from Dvaravati, Khmer, Mon, and Lawa cultures, Ayuthaya was able
to create its own arts and culture from a delicate blend of those
cultures. During the reigns of 33 kings, Ayuthaya gave Thailand a
great number of fine buildings, monuments and works of art. In
1767 Ayuthaya was completely destroyed by the Burmese. The remains
of this island city are of extreme archaeological importance and
the extensively restored historical park in Thailand was selected
a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994. An annual festival, Ayuthaya
World Heritage Day, is held in December. Countless ruins of
palaces, temples and monuments are scattered over the historical
park of Ayuthaya. Wat Phra Si Sanphet was the largest in its day,
within the royal palace compound. The line of its three chedis,
containing the ashes of the first three kings, is in the style now
known as Ayuthayan. During excavations, the Fine Arts Department
of Thailand found treasure chests containing priceless objects
including gold Buddhas, jewels and royal regalia which are now
housed in Bangkoks National Museum. |

Today you will explore the canals of Bangkok (see
description below).
In the evening you will visit the Calypso Cabaret (see description
below).
Canal tour. Bangkok has long been
known as the Venice of the East - for good reason.
Bangkok and its suburbs have more than 20,000 km of canals. It is
virtually impossible to explore them by yourself, which is why
this exclusive tour has been specially designed to offer visitors
an unforgettable insight to life on the klongs (canals) of
Bangkok. Different kinds of boats are used, the Praya Express
boat, long-tails and small 3-4 person boats, which are used to
explore the smallest klongs. As the routing changes every week, it
is difficult to give an exact program. Your guide will take you
ashore to visit a local temple, village or market. On the way back
we visit (if possible) a teakwood house of the Rama 5 period. A
local lunch is included. Start around 08:00 hr, end around 14:30
hr both at your hotel.
Calypso Cabaret. A turbulent
cabaret show. The human being's natural beauty live on stage.
Decorations and costumes are stripped to the bare necessities.
Choreographies are harmoniously tailored to the specific talents
and abilities of our actors and actresses. This show is timeless,
not catered to any markets or fashions or trends. It will give you
an unseen and unheard-of experience. The revival of the art of
entertainment! SHOW TIME: 8:15 P.M. and 9:45 P.M.. |
