Gorkha is a small town yet is arguably the most
important historical town of Nepal.
King Prithvi Narayan Shah, the ninth
generation paternal ancestor of the present King, acheived his
lifelong ambition to unify the independent states of Nepal, he
managed this due to the overwhelming effectiveness of his locally
recruited troops.
The British term "Gurkha" came from
the name Gorkha, which refers to the now famed soldiers of the
region.
Gorkha Durbar has a fort, a palace and a
temple. From this stunning viewpoint you can experience the
Mansalu range and the surrounding valleys. |
