The official currency for Jordan is the Dinar
(JOD), which is divided into 100 piastres or 1,000 fils.
Foreign currency and travellers cheques can
be changed at any bank throughout the country.
Tourists are advised to remember that banks
are closed on Fridays.
The larger hotels will also exchange money
too.
American Express, Visa, MasterCard and Diners
Club are the most widely accepted credit cards and can be used at
major hotels,
ATMs are available although it is worth
remembering that acceptance of foreign cards can be limited.
Banking hours are Sat-Thurs 0830-1500. Hours
during Ramadan are 0830-1000, although some banks open in the
afternoon. |
