The city centre has a brightly coloured old town with rows of wood-and-corrugated-tin houses clustered together. It also has thriving cafes and high-energy pubs and clubs.

Iceland's international airport is surrounded by barren lava fields which were spewed out of the mouths of volcanoes (some still active).

There are stunning glaciers, amazing geysers, hot springs and waterfalls.
