Arrive Reykjavik. Pick-up at Keflavik airport where you will
be transferred to Reykjavik.
Optional tours before arriving at

Reykjavik-Skagafjordur
The tour starts with visiting Þingvellir (Parliament
Plaines), the location of the old parliament and a geological
phenomenon.
From Þingvellir we will take the highland road
Kaldidalur to Borgarfjordur area.
In Borgarfjordur we will stop by Hraunfossar (Lava
waterfalls) and Barnafossar (Children's waterfalls).
After the waterfalls we continue to Reykholt, the place
where Snorri Sturluson, the famous 13th century poet, lived and
wrote his historic books (Snorra-Edda and the Saga of Egill
Skallagrimsson to mentions some).
Then we will visit Deildartunguhver, Europe's water most hot
spring. From there we will continue towards Skagafjordur for our
overnight stay. |

Skagafjordur-Myvatn
Today we will first go to Akureyri for a short city tour and from
there we proceed towards the Lake Myvatn area.
It is one of the most interesting geological and
geographical areas of the northern hemisphere.
Recent and old volcanic activity has shaped the landscapes
and the forces of nature are still at work.
Among the interesting sights are a solfatara area with
boiling and bubbling mud pots, the Krafla Geothermal Power Plant,
the lava at Leirhnjukur still warm 20 years after it flowed, the
lava labyrinth Dimmuborgir and the pseudo crater group at
Skutustadir. |

Myvatn-Breiddalsvik
From Lake Myvatn we continue over mountain roads to the beautiful
eastern coastal region.
We will stop at Stodvarfjordur where we will visit the
extraordinary museum of stone collection of Petra. |

Breiddalsvik-Skaftafell
We will continue along the eastern coastal region to the Glacier
Lagoon (Jokulsarlon) where an optional boat tour between the
icebergs is highly recommended.
Then we head towards the oasis at Skaftafell national park
close to Vatnajokull, Europe's biggest glacier.
At Skaftafell we take a short walk towards the beautiful
waterfall Svartifoss and another walk to the glacier tongue.

Skaftafell-Hvolsvollur
Today the trip continues over the black sands towards the
beautiful scenery of Iceland's South Shore.
We will stop by Dyrholaey (road might be closed during
nesting time) or the beach of Reynisfjara and hopefully we will
see lot of bird, such as the Puffin and the Arctic Tern.
Then we continue to the waterfalls of Seljarlandsfoss and
Skogarfoss. |

Hvolsvollur-Reykjavik
From Hvolsvollur we will go to the Golden Waterfall (Gullfoss)
and Geysir Geothermal area.
From there we continue to Reykjavik. Arriving early in
Reykjavik a city tour is an option or
a free afternoon in Reykjavik. |
