Arrive Reykjavik.
Pick-up at Keflavik airport where you will be transferred to
Reykjavik with the optional stop at the

2 |
Reykjavik-Hvolsvollur
First we take a short city tour around Reykjavik.
Then we continue to Þingvellir (Parliament Plaines),
the location of the old parliament and a geological phenomenon.
From there we go to the Geyser geothermal area and to
Gullfoss, the Golden Waterfall.

Hvolsvollur-Kirkjubaejarklaustur
We start our second day by visiting the waterfalls of
Seljarlandsfoss and Skogarfoss.
Then we stop to visit the museum at Skogar.
From there we continue to the beautiful scenery of Iceland's
South Shore such as bird life at Dyrholaey (road might be closed
during nesting time), the rocks of Reynisdrangar, black sands and
the lava of the Laki eruption in 1782-1783.
Hopefully we will see lot of birds, such as the Puffin and
the Arctic Tern. |

Kirkjubaejarklaustur-Hofn
Today the trip continues over the black sands towards the oasis
at Skaftafell national park close to Vatnajokull, Europe's biggest
glacier.
At Skaftafell we take a short walk towards the beautiful
waterfall Svartifoss and another walk to the glacier tongue.
From there we go to the Glacier Lagoon (Jokulsarlon) where
an optional boat tour between the icebergs is highly recommended.
After dinner you have the option of a jeep-tour up to the
glacier. |

Hofn-Egilsstadir
Now the tour continues along the beautiful eastern coastal
region.
We drive through the mountain pass Almannaskard and admire
the extraordinary red and green colors of the mountains.
We will stop at Stodvarfjordur where we will visit the
extraordinary museum of stone collection of Petra. |

Egilsstadir-Myvatn
From Egilsstadir we go over mountain roads to the magnificent
waterfall Dettifoss, Europe's mightiest waterfall.
From there we visit the natural phenomenon Asbyrgi.
Then we continue towards the town of Husavik and we will end
the day by going to the Waterfall of the Gods (Godafoss) before
heading towards our overnight stay. |

Myvatn-Hrutafjordur
This day we stay around the Lake Myvatn area.
It is one of the most interesting geological and
geographical areas of the northern hemisphere.
Recent and old volcanic activity has shaped the landscapes
and the forces of nature are still at work.
Among the interesting sights are a solfatara area with
boiling and bubbling mud pots, the Krafla Geothermal Power Plant,
the lava at Leirhnjukur still warm 20 years after it flowed, the
lava labyrinth Dimmuborgir and the pseudo crater group at
Skutustadir.
From there we go to Akureyri where we will take a short city
tour and from Akureyri the tour goes to Hrutafjordur for an
overnight stay. |

Today the tour continues around the Snaefellsnes peninsula
and its magnificent glacier Snaefellsjokull.
Among places that we visit are the rural church at Budir,
Arnarstapi, where a short stroll along the coastal cliffs gives us
access to the rich birdlife and other wonders of nature, Hellnar.
At Djupalonssandur, a short stroll takes us to the basaltic
pebble beach, framed with strange lava formations. |

Snaefellsnes-Reykjavik
Today we head towards Reykjavik to close our circle. First
stop is at the old volcano Grabrok where we take a walk to the
top.
There we continue to Hraunfossar (Lava waterfalls) and
Barnafossar (Children's waterfalls).
Then we go to Husafell for our lunch break.
From Husafell the tour goes to Reykholt, the place where
Snorri Sturluson, the famous 13th century poet, lived and wrote
his historic books (Snorra-Edda and the Saga of Egill
Skallagrimsson to mentions some).
Then we will visit Deildartunguhver, Europe's water most
hot spring.
From there the tour goes directly to Reykjavik trough the
Whale fjord (Hvalfjordur). |
