CHING YI BRIDGE - The dome shape of the bridge design was a new one in Hong Kong bridge history. The dome can release the loading on the bridge to both of the ends. The design can support a 2-way and 4-lane traffic. The balustrade on the bridge was aluminum-type for rustless reason, although it was changed to welded stainless steel, because of the frequent stolen cases of aluminium bars in the past decades. The ferry service from Tsing Yi and Tsuen Wan was terminated by Hong Kong Yaumati Ferry, after several years of the opening of North Bridge. |
