Description |

It is difficult to imagine a more idyllic spot than Egypt's most
southerly town of Aswan. With its row of waterfront shops,
congenial climate and friendly outgoing people the little town has
an appealing and gentle charm all its own. A noted winter resort,
Aswan is most attractively approached by The Nile Cruiser from the
ancient city of Luxor. Just beyond Aswan lies Abu Simbel, one of
Egypt's greatest monuments. The colossal temple, built in 1300 BC,
was plucked bodily from the rising waters behind the Aswan dam in
1963 and rebuilt stone by stone above the high water mark. It took
over five years to reconstruct and the temple remains today an
extraordinary symbol of devoted care and attention to detail.
Caring is a way of life in Aswan and nowhere more so than at the
Aswan Oberoi where the famous health Spa attracts almost as many
visitors as the temples of ancient Nubia. Barely an hour's flight
from Cairo or a leisurely four-day trip by the Nile Cruiser from
Luxor, the Aswan Oberoi is one of Egypt's most sought-after
retreats. Quietly secluded among the gardens of Elephantine
Island, the luxuriously appointed resort hotel and its gracious
staff have restored hotel and its gracious staff have restored
many a guest to health and vigor. The dry climate and magnificent
Nile location, the golden desert sands and the extraordinary sense
of Egypt's ancient past induce a deep restorative calm that has to
be experienced to be believed. The beautiful furnishings, relaxed
atmosphere and superb recreation and health facilities at the Spa
make the transformation complete |
