Machalilla is undoubtedly the most beautiful
and newest of the protected forest in Ecuador. It is only 121,000
acres and is one of the rarest and oldest equatorial forest areas
on the continent.
It is sparsely populated and is considered to
be the closest thing to paradise a traveller has ever seen.
The few towns nearby, Puerto Cayo, Machalilla,
Julcuy, and Puerto Lopez provide access to this fantastic National
Park.
Tropical birds such as parrots, pelican,
frigates and a wide range of cacti, succulents bromelaids and
flowering trees are some of the treasures that the park has to
offer.
The park also has several natural bays and
wide sandy beaches the most famous being Los Frailes a
virgin, white sand beach with clear blue water. |
