Ecuador's official language is Spanish. The Climate in Ecuador is pretty fantastic all year round so weather wise there is not a best time to travel. That said the high season which extends from December to January and from June to August makes the prices of the hotels and cruises a lot more expensive. The busiest months in the Galapagos islands are June to August and December and during holidays like carnival and Easter (March or April). Technically you should carry your passport with you wherever you go, if your holiday is of the more adventurous kind then it is advisable to carry only a copy, you can always carry your hotel address and room number with you. Europeans must bring adapters for their electrical appliances. Make sure that you use common sense where safety is concerned and always know where your valuables are and avoid travelling at night where possible There are daily flights to the Galápagos Islands on national airlines from both Quito and Guayaquil; note that there is a national park admission charge, payable in cash only. You are required by Ecuadorian law to show a vaccination certificate for yellow fever. Also, make sure you're up to date on your other vaccinations and boosters. Tap water is unsafe to drink. Bottled water and sealed soft drinks are safe.
