Enriquillo Lake is located between the provinces of Barahona and Independencia, and is roughly 40 meters below sea level.

The lake measures 250 square kilometers, but varies in depth.

It is nearly three times as salty as the Caribbean Sea.

Enriquillo Lake with its beautiful and spectacular natural phenomenon is adamantly protected and is inhabited by flora and fauna native to dry woods. Animals here include crocodiles and iguanas, herons, flamingos, and swallows.
