Museo Nacional de Historia Natural was founded by the French naturalist Claudio Gay in 1830. Constructed by the architect Raul Lathoud in 1875 it is a National Monument. Being one of the oldest museums in Latin America and argueably one of the most important in the world because of the valuable collections it possesses. You will find an awesome Inca mummy of a child found frozen on Plomo mountain, which remains in perfect condition today. The museum also has an entomology, geographical, anthropological and archeological collections. Free admission on Sundays. |
