Standing at the entrance to the bay you will
find Castillo del Morro. It was built in 1643 to ward off English
pirates in times long forgotten.
Anyone that wishes to visit the castle will
need to go to the outskirts of town.
having made the effort yiu will be rewarded by
the vantage point from which to see the whole port and Sierra
Maestra Mountains.
As well as guarding the bay from pirates, the
castle was also a prison and tomb for Cuban patriots in the 19th
century.
