The official currency is the Cuban Peso
(CUP), divided into 100 centavos (cents). Notes can be 1, 3, 5,
10, 20, 50 and 100 pesos.
The only currency accepted is the
convertible Cuban peso. All hotels have a Bureau de Change as do
the airports.
You can only get these in Cuba and they
are non transferable anywhere in the world so if you do bring them
out of the country they are absolutly useless.
You can change sterling or euros into Cuban
pesos.
If you take travellers cheques you cannot
exchange any that belong to any American bank.
This is the same for credit cards, ie
american express, MBNA etc.
