Covering an area of only 7 km2, Brijuni are a
group of two larger and twelve smaller islets along the West coast
of Istria, near Pula.
The cluster of islands and the surrounding
sea are protected.
The Brijuni islands are known for
theirpreserved Mediterranean vegetation, which is partly landscape
and partly a safari park.
The islands are also known for its valuable
cultural heritage from the Roman and Byzantine times.
Because these Brioni Islands are so stunningly
beautiful they have been a favourite with the tourists for over a
hundred years. |
