Current temperature in Thimpu

Obviously the higher the altitude the climate varies considerably with temperatures dropping dramatically with any increase. The majority of the time though there are usually sunshine and clear skies.

The hottest temperatures and the heaviest rainfall occurs in the south of Bhutan. Here also is where the monsoon falls between June and September.

Make sure that you are equipped with heavy warm clothing for the evenings as the nights are very cold.

It is advisable to visit Bhutan in October, November, April to mid June as the rainfall is at a minimum and the climate is most suitable for active days of sightseeing.

The foothills are surprisingly very pleasant during the winter. Make sure that your clothing reflects the different altitudes and times of day and night that you will experience on your trip.
